Six Month Check-Ups

How important are 6 month check-ups?  Children and teens should visit the dentist for a routine cleaning and check-up for the prevention and diagnosis of cavities or other dental health problems in their early stages of life. Decay not only causes the discoloration of ones tooth but also in the later stages can affect the nerve, which results in further damage 

FLUORIDE TREATMENT

Should parents be skeptical of fluoride?  Fluoride is statistically proven to strengthen tooth enamel and lower the risk of decay. Both fluoride and sealants are seen as preventive care to avoid cavities. Patients should receive fluoride treatments every 6 months to ensure strong healthy teeth and good dental hygiene.

KIDS TIME

The saying “we work on kids time” is shared by Dr. Coloma to the parents of our patients. The meaning behind this saying is every procedure is different. The time it takes to finish an appointment depends on the needs and wants of the patients. 

SEALING TEETH IS BETTER THAN FILLING THEM

As most pediatric practices would, we encourage our patients to seal all eight molars. Sealants protect against 80% of cavities for 2 years and continue to protect against 50% of cavities for up to 4 years.
